LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

Napier Beach Top 10 is located in Bay View, just off SH2, 4km north of Napier airport.
It is a lovely beachside township with a great community feel .
Our park is at the end of one of the famous Napier cycle tracks and leads back into Ahuriri with further track options back into the city.
The Bay View beach is fine shingle & because of the steep slope gets deep quite quickly. This makes for excellent fishing – surf casting or kontiki .
The beach is generally safe for swimming , we just advise t o check the conditions on the day.

Bay View also has some great local business within walking distance or a short drive from our park . We have wineries, fresh fruit and vege stores (real fruit ice - cream too) and a small village with a pub and a small supe rmarket less than two minutes drive from the park.

There is more than 200km of bike trails for exploring in the Hawkes Bay – so if you’re into the outdoors, you will love Napier. There are also some amazing walks to be undertaken in the Hawkes Bay such as Cape Kidnappers walk, Maraetotara Falls, Hastings, Te Mata Peak walk and Redwood forest walks, Te Mata Park. Here at Napier Beach Top 10, we are very lucky to have the best of b oth worlds ; quiet , coastal, have some of Hawkes Bays finest wineries close and remain only a short 10 min drive into the city centre.

We invite you to come and experience slice of paradise right here in Bay View, Napier

Art Deco City

ZXW413401_2729

Napier had to be completely rebuilt after it was demolished by the massive 1931 earthquake. The city is now renowned for being the “Art Deco Capital” due to the immense number of buildings with the art deco influence as it was the architecture of the time. Napier is a beautiful city with no obtrusive high rises which makes for spectacular views over the city to Cape Kidnappers from look out points such as Bluff Hill.

Napier’s water front, Marine Parade also features beautiful art deco designs for the community and visitors to enjoy such as the Sound Shell where there are often events / concerts held and the fountains which at the time represented a dawn of a new, modern age.

Twice each year Napier has an Art Deco festival where you will feel like you have travelled back in time. You will see 1930’s clad people, vintage cars, steam train, tea parties in the gardens, dancing at the sound shell and many more great activities.

This wonderful city can be taken in all year round by a walking tour with the Art Deco Trust where you can learn all about the amazing history behind each of the buildings.

Tours go twice daily year round and cost $16 – $21 per adult.

400 metres above sea level Te Mata Peak offers terrific panoramic views to the Rangers & Cape Kidnappers. There are nature trails leading up the Peak, great for hikers & mountain bikers.

There is a wonderful Maori legend behind the rugged peak, often referred to as “the sleeping giant”, of a tribal leader “Te Mata” who died while demonstrating his love for a woman on the opposing tribe by attempting to bite a gap between the coast and the plains so that the people would no longer be separated by them.

Te Mata Peak can be found 25 minutes from Napier Beach Top 10 Holiday Park out the back of Havelock North.
